Cultural Heritage Master Plan
Cultural heritage is a shared resource that everyone can benefit from, but to protect it properly, we must first be aware of it and understand its value.
In collaboration with Kerteminde and Nyborg Municipalities, Østfyns Museer has developed three cultural heritage master plans.
The cultural heritage master plans document the two municipalities’ built heritage, such as buildings, villages, manor houses, and other physical traces left by our ancestors. The master plans include a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening awareness of and interest in the area’s cultural heritage among both residents and visitors.
The three master plans each have different focus areas, but they all share a common purpose: to communicate the history of the areas, as well as the significance and importance of preserving our historic buildings, villages, and shared past.
Cultural heritage master plans are an important initiative for preserving and strengthening the unique cultural heritage and history of Nyborg and Kerteminde, while also making it accessible and relevant for both present and future generations.
Cultural Heritage Master Plan for Nyborg Municipality
All parishes in Nyborg Municipality contain unique stories, heritage environments worthy of preservation, and a cultural heritage that remains visible in both rural areas and towns to this day.
Nyborg Municipality has documented the cultural heritage in its rural areas and main towns, enabling it to create value for both residents and the local business community.

Cultural Heritage Master Plan for Kerteminde Municipality
The Cultural Heritage Master Plan for Kerteminde Municipality is based on our shared heritage and presents two key narratives: the maritime dimension in Kerteminde, Hindsholm, and Munkebo, and the development of infrastructure in the southern part of the municipality.
The cultural heritage master plan also serves as a tool for Kerteminde Municipality’s planning department, helping to guide overall planning and inform decisions in specific cases.
Kerteminde Maritime DNA 2018
This report opens with a summary of the town planning and architectural history, including recommendations. It is followed by an in-depth exploration of the themes in the section “The Maritime Main Narrative,” presented through text and illustrations. Finally, the report provides an overview of the individual maritime districts and their heritage values.
Cultural Heritage Master Plan 2021
Cultural heritage reflects the traces left by people throughout history. Where these traces are particularly dense and distinct, they form cultural environments. The value of a cultural environment depends not only on its age and condition, but above all on the stories and meaning it conveys.
