Clothes for all ages
June 11 – August 28
East Funen Museums’ summer exhibition at Toldboden
Opening June 10th at 14:00
The exhibition focuses on the history of garments and their preservation. How the relationship with clothes has changed over time – from homemade and overlapped clothes to today’s consumption and burning. The exhibition also puts new trends and sustainable textiles in 2022 into perspective.
Part of the exhibition is part of the joint project “The Past in the Future”, which is carried out in collaboration with Bevaringscenter Fyn, Svendborg Museum, Øhavsmuseet, Marstal Søfartsmuseum, Ærø Museum, Langelands Museum and Østfyns Museer, while another part is based on Østfyns Museer’s collection of objects.
Come and see how conservators can preserve fragile textiles using a special table. See also a wedding dress sewn from the fabric of a parachute during World War II.
